ANGEL'S LOVE
She was one step away from the cliff. Thick clouds floated just below her. And although the abyss was not visible behind the soft pillows of the sky, she knew that the abyss was still there. It was waiting for her, its dark arms outstretched, and in a loud whisper it repeated over and over:
"Don't be afraid. Just close your eyes and step down."
But she hesitated. Somewhere in the depths of her broken soul, she still heard another voice, saying the opposite.
But from below, someone was calling, someone who seemed to have power over her; someone who wanted to convince her of this. And with each passing second, she succumbed more and more to it.
"You won't fall. You're an angel," the voice reminded her, "angels don't crash. Have you forgotten?"
"What happens to angels?"
"They fly. Take a step and see for yourself."
Suddenly she felt wings behind her back and some previously unknown power and warmth enveloping her body. It seemed to have changed. And it began to seem that everything was in her power. She looked down again. The cliff was no longer so frightening, and the clouds looked even fluffier than before. The voice continued to call. But she still stood there, trying to understand what was happening to her.
"If I am an angel, what happened to me? Why can't I see God?"
"Jump off the cliff. And you will feel the power you have forgotten. You will not crash. You will fly."
"And I will see God again?"
"But you are an angel."

BEFORE
Snowflakes fell on her eyelashes. She rejoiced in the snow, like a child. And he was with her, her beloved, long-awaited man. He held her close. And they were both happy. That day it seemed like it would last forever.
And in the evening he told her again that there was no God. And a few months later his father died. And for the first time he wanted to believe that nothing was over, and that they would meet one day. And then she even more strongly than before asked God to reveal himself to him. God heard her. And at night an angel appeared to him in a dream. And they talked for a long time. And when he woke up, he continued to feel the presence of God. Then there were days and nights when he took the Word in his hands and read it. He did not always understand and often could not believe what was written. But she explained it to him. And he again felt the presence of God. And when she was not there, he cried, bitterly and for a long time. And finally, God heard not only her, but him too.
A few more years passed. And his faith grew stronger. She was happy, because for her there was no one more important than the Creator. Because if it were not for Him, then he would not be with her either. She continued to tell the world about God. And he continued to love her. They never quarreled. Because the two were one.
But one day she was gone. It was as if she had evaporated. And he could not find her anywhere. Year after year passed. They dreamed of their own home. But he had to stay in someone else's. Because he was waiting for her and still believed in God. He never blamed the Lord for his loss. But he could not accept the fact that somewhere, perhaps, she was suffering. He asked God every day what had happened to his beloved. But God was silent. And at some point, his faith wavered. He could not praise God when there was only emptiness in his soul. And he did not understand why his heart continued to beat. He was ready to end this once and for all. But he knew that he had no right to do this, neither to himself as God's creation, nor for her sake. What if... What if she does come back.
The worst thing is to live in the unknown. The worst thing is to wake up with an unrealizable dream. The worst thing is to believe day after day in something that will never happen. The worst thing is not to know what happened to the person closest to you.
He had developed a strange habit. He bought her favorite tea. Although he himself preferred coffee. And now he bought tea in case she came back on a cold winter night or opened the door with her key in his absence. They dreamed of one day buying a beautiful house for their family. And now he took care of someone else's as if it were his own. What if she came back? And then they would move into the house of their dreams. And he did not give up. He continued to earn money for the most important purchase for both of them. And when he did not want to go to work, he reminded himself why it was still worth going. Every day he left a note on the door. Just in case. What if she comes back...
